02/16/2008 2008 Berkeley Innovation and Global Leadership Program for top Public Listed Enterprises in Jiangyin City
Welcome to participate in the Dinner Event hosted by Berkeley CRC and Jiangyin City Government on Feb 18th at the Claremont Hotel.
The purpose of this event is to provide a great opportunity for the Berkeley graduate students who are interested in doing business in China or connecting with China. About 20 Chinese CEOs of “China’s Top 500 and Publicly Listed Enterprises” from Jiangyin city will attend the event to meet you. As you might know, most of these firms have already established businesses abroad, and they are looking for top talent around the world to join their globalization effort. You are more than welcome to present your career interests to the CEOs including providing your resume to the CEOs. Meanwhile, this event is also a great opportunity for us to promote Berkeley’s image.

Chinese government officials, judges and entrepreneurs will come to the Bay Area this fall to receive training in U.S. intellectual property rights.
University of California-Berkeley officials and a Chinese delegation announced an agreement Tuesday to kick off the five-year program. A group of 20 Chinese will attend specially designed classes at Berkeley on American intellectual property and get hands-on training as ``interns'' at Bay Area law firms and U.S. courts. Preliminary plans call for instructors from UC-Berkeley to conduct larger training seminars in China in 2007.
The program was announced on the same day U.S. trade officials met with Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi in Washington, D.C., and received promises to crack down on piracy of software, movies and other protected property. The Chinese also agreed to require computer manufacturers to install legal software on new machines. It's often been reported that as much as 95 percent of all software in China is pirated.
Chinese officials this week are on a goodwill and buying mission to pave the way for President Hu Jintao's visit next week. Chinese officials are reportedly here to buy $15 billion worth of American goods, a small dent in the $200 billion trade deficit with China.
In the Bay Area, there was excitement about the training program, which is being developed by the Center for Law and Technology at Boalt Hall School of Law. Both sides say they hope the program will foster dialogue and cooperation and enable Chinese and Americans to understand each other's perspective.
``This is a very positive signal that China's willing to learn and willing to change when it comes to intellectual property,'' said Jihong Sanderson, executive director of UC-Berkeley's Center for Research on Chinese & American Strategic Cooperation, which helped establish the program. ``The problems with IP in China you can't change overnight. You have to do it through education, collaboration and dialogue.''
